The Mercury Technological Centre participated in the workshop "ACTION PLAN OF MERCURY MANAGEMENT AND STORAGE IN PERÚ" organized by the Environment Ministry of Perú in Lima
The Mercury Technological Centre has participated, on 5th and 6th December 2017, at the international workshop "ACTION PLAN OF MERCURY MANAGEMENT AND STORAGE IN PERÚ" organized by the Environment Ministry of Perú and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the collaboration of the Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Latin America and the Caribbean Region (BCCC) in Lima (Perú), for showing the management model developed by MAYASA based on its mercury stabilization/solidification technique.
In the workshop participated all stakeholders in the environmental problem caused by metallic mercury waste, all Ministries and Departments of the Government of Perú involved in the issue, agents from the private sector of mining industry and the waste managers of the country. Several members of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also participated.
The workshop is aimed, to write an action plan for management and storage of metallic mercury waste. The project results will be used to develop the road map for the implementation of the Minamata Convention in Perú.
