El 18 y 19 de noviembre 2015 tuvo lugar en Almadén (España) el "Taller sobre la gestión del mercurio y remediación de sitios contaminados". El evento fue organizado por el PNUMA / PAM y el Centro de Actividad Regional para la Producción Limpia (CAR/PL), en el marco del Programa de la Unión Europea Horizonte 2020, con la colaboración del Ministerio español de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente, y MAYASA-CTNDM.

Siguiendo con uno de los principales objetivos para los que fue creado el Centro "Desarrollar actividades con otros países: formación de expertos, asistencia técnica y transferencia de tecnología" el pasado día 11 de septiembre se recibió la Visita-Estudio de una Delegación compuesta por autoridades medioambientales del Ministerio de Protección Ambiental de China, el Instituto de Geoquímica de la Academia China de Ciencias y la Agencia Noruega para el Medio Ambiente, que participan en el proyecto SINOMER.

Minas de Almadén y Arrayanes (MAYASA), together with the Spanish company EMGRISA and Greek POLYECO, had been the winners of the international tender called by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for the implementation of the project "Reducing mercury exposure to human health and the environment by promoting the sound management of chemicals in Mongolia".

The National Technological Center for Mercury Decontamination has participated in the Meeting of the MED POL Focal Points was held in Malta from 16 to 19 June 2015. |

The National Technological Center for Mercury Decontamination has elaborated the Guidelines on Best Environmental Practices for the environmental sound management of mercury contaminated sites commissioned by the Programme for the Assessment and Control of Marine and Coastal Pollution in the Mediterranean Region (MEDPOL) and the Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC of the Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP). The Guideline has been commissioned to the National Technological Center for Mercury Decontamination based on the vast technological experience in mercury management and its offer scientific and technological support to eliminate the hazards related to the presence of mercury in products, emissions and wastes.
